Director, US GAAP & Accounting Policy

Overview:
Assisting in the development and ongoing maintenance of company’s US GAAP accounting policies, analyzing and developing implementation plans for new accounting standards, developing of structured US GAAP training programs and materials for the company, supporting operating companies with regard to complex accounting issues on an as needed basis. 
This role requires significant use of judgment to develop policies and procedures which comply with accounting rules while minimizing the impact on the business.  Additionally the role will require the development of relationships with key stakeholders within the organization to enhance US GAAP knowledge throughout the organization enabling a collaborative environment within the company regarding complex accounting issues.
 Essential Functions:
  • Develop accounting policies and practices applicable to the company including the redesign and ongoing maintenance of corporate accounting policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a global US GAAP Training program for the organization.
  • Analyze and communicate internally the impact of new proposed and adopted US GAAP accounting standards on the company.
  • Serve as an expert resource, including the preparation and/or review of technical accounting memos, to operating units for US GAAP advice on complex accounting issues.
  • Assist in the review of the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings, with an emphasis on review of critical accounting policies and adequacy of footnote disclosures.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, Certified Public Accountant required
  • 5-7 years public accounting or 9+ years of public/private accounting mix with previous experience on an accounting policy role a plus
  • Technical U.S. GAAP with experience researching and implementing accounting standards including derivative accounting, purchase accounting, and fair value measurements. Previous experience in the Agribusiness industry or similar industries a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestic and/or internationally up to 15%
